Believe in the Magic of the Season at Macy's Holiday Festival of Lights

While Thanksgiving may still be a week away, it’s already beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown St. Louis thanks to Macy's Holiday Festival of Lights. Start the holidays this Friday with a night of activities, entertainment and Santa during this spectacular annual celebration. The fun begins with face painting, balloon twisters and hot chocolate at City Garden.

At 5 p.m., Circus Flora will be performing breathtaking feats of acrobatics, magical illusion and captivating theatrics. The Grand Center Arts Academy Show Choir and St. Louis Christmas Carols Association (both celebrating their 100 year anniversary) will get you in the spirit of the holidays with festive music. Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Who Stole Christmas will be taking a break from his live musical at the Peabody Opera House and make a surprise appearance. At 6:30 p.m., Santa will help local dignitaries light up downtown as they flip the switch on the Salvation Army Tree of Lights.

After a fabulous fireworks display, follow Santa, the Joia Drum Line, Banana Bike Brigade and the Bob Case Brass Band to Macy’s for a Holiday Open House. Jugglers, magicians, elves, Fredbird, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Hello Kitty and Santa will be making holiday magic throughout the store. Enjoy performances by Radio Disney Road Crew, get your picture taken with the Grinch and enjoy a show by local entertainers Frilly & Miller. Visitors can also make holiday cards and ornaments or compete in a holiday cookie decorating party.

While you’re at Macy’s, make sure to enter the contest to win a holiday night on the town for a family of four. The prize includes a one-night hotel accommodation and tickets to the St. Louis Symphony Holiday Celebration. During this traditional concert, Powell Hall is transformed to a magical place for all ages complete with egg nog, hot chocolate and visits from Santa. Your family will enjoy a variety of favorite songs, including The First Noel, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Joy to the World and so many more that define the spirit of the season.

Macy's Holiday Festival of Lights is taking place on Friday, November 18 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at City Garden and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Macy’s downtown store. So don’t just sit there — go deck the halls!
