Spice Up Your Weekend one of St. Louis' Cinco de Mayo Events
Ready to spice up your week? Of course you are. So grab your sombrero, pop open up a cerveza and get ready to celebrate Cinco de Mayo St. Louis style.
• The fun kicks off early with Fiesta Friday at the St. Peters Rec Plex. During this lock-in party, kids ages 10 to 14 are invited to gather up their amigos for a night of Mexican party games, music spun by DJ Fundmaster, dancing, dodgeball, broomball on ice, basketball with hoop shoot contests, attendance prizes and more.

• Party goers of all ages can celebrate May’s most colorful holiday on Cherokee Street. The 2012 Cinco de Mayo Festivalis jammed packed with traditional Mexican performances, live music by St. Louis favorites Javier Mendoza and Boogie Chyld, roaming street performers, delicious food and the People’s Joy Parade. Unlike any other parade in the country, this grassroots menagerie is overflowing with crepe paper floats, giant puppets, rainbow dancers, bike brigades, Elvis impersonators, Mexican wrestlers and more.

• If you’re going to be in St. Charles on Saturday, stop by the Renaud Spirit Center for their Fitness Festival and Fiesta 5K Run. Dress up in your most festive Mexican attire for this family-friendly race or 1-mile kids fun run/walk. The event includes south of the border refreshments, face painting, inflatables, rock wall and balloon artists.
