The 5th Annual  Kids' 1-Mile Fun Run & Walk gives families an opportunity to enjoy exercise and friendly competition in O'Fallon Sports Park. Participants meet at 7:50 a.m. and the race begins after the 8 a.m. adult 5K race is over. Registration through March 11 is $11 for ages 14 and under, and $13 for ages 15 and up; an additional $5 will be added for registration March 12-20, and an additional $10 for race-day registration. The Academy of the Sacred Heart has teamed up with American Girl, Inc. to host a special community event, American Girl Fashion Shows, for the enjoyment and delight of area girls and their families. Held for the first time in March of 2009, the four shows featured students from 33 surrounding municipalities modeling clothing styles both historic and new. Celebrate the experience of being a girl, whether yesterday, or today, through a colorful presentation of historical and contemporary fashions. Enjoy elegant refreshments, enter to win door prizes and learn how clothing has changed over the years to reflect history, culture and girls' individual styles. At the Academy of the Sacred Heart, 619 N. Second Street, St. Charles. Tickets are $35. Recommended for ages 6 and up.

Kids ages 5-8 can dress up in their finest tea party outfit and bring a teddy bear or other favorite stuffed animal or doll for an hour of fun. Kids will be served a snack (apple jouce box and a cookie) and make a craft for their teddy bear. COCA is holding open auditions for its tuition-free Talented Identified Program for students ages 8-11.  The year-long program begins with summer dance classes in jazz, continuing throughout the year with after-school classes that may include ballet, modern and tap dance. Transportation to and from COCA is not included. Lee Nolting is program director.

Children should wear leotards, tights or stretch pants and fitted t-shirts for the audition and dance in bare feet. No formal training or experience is required for the audition -- only a strong passion for movement. Students who are successful in TIP may be candidates for COCA’s Pre-Professional Program in Dance. St. Anthony's Medical Center is offering a class for new big brothers and sisters. In small groups, children practice the correct way to hold, feed and diaper a baby, and they visit the nursery. Participants should bring a doll or teddy bear for diapering practice and a picture of themselves. The class is recommended for ages 3 and up. Parents are required to stay with their children. The class is offered for ages 3 and 4 from 1-2 p.m.; for ages 5 and 6 from 2-3 p.m. and for children age 7 and older from 3-4 p.m. $15 per child. At St. Anthony's Medical Center, 11010 Kennerly Road.
