Bring your kids to enjoy a live production of Willy Wonka performed by local kids ages 5-19. The show is produced by Shooting Star Productions, a St. Louis-based nonprofit theater company founded to provide positive theatrical experiences for young performers.
Each year, Shooting Star produces two shows, a Broadway-style musical featuring ages 5-19 in the summer, and a non-musical for school age children in the winter. Performers learn technical aspects of producing a live show, set building and experience on the stage.
Previous productions include Annie, Beaty and the Beast, Music Man, Les Miserables, Babes in Toyland and many other classic shows. Willy Wonka features music and lyrics by Leslie Briscusse and Anthony Newly and was adapted for the stage by Leslie Briscusse and Tim McDonald.
Willy Wonka will be performed June 21-23 at the Ladue High School Performing Arts Center, 1201 Warson Road.. Shows are June 21 and 22 at 7 p.m. and June 23 at 2 p.m.
