As the air outside turns colder, the air inside the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House has become alive with living jewels!
This holiday season, your family can enjoy the warm temperatures inside the Butterfly House's tropical conservatory and more than 1,000 jewel-toned butterflies surrounding you in free flight.
You'll see beautiful Ruby Lacewings, Emerald Peacocks (pictured) and the sapphire-winged Ulysses butterflies and be surrounded by white and green tropical foliage for a winter-like scene. You can even bring your hand-held camera to capture your family's perfect holiday photo.
On Saturdays and Sundays, stop into the Lopata Learning Lab where your kids can create butterfly- and winter-themed crafts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Winter Jewels: A Holiday Celebration is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays through December 30. Closed Mondays and Christmas Day. All activities are free with admission of $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 3-12, and free for children 2 and under. St. Louis city and county residents enjoy free admission on the first Tuesday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m. with proof of residency.
