Happy first day of baseball in St. Louis! Seeing half the town decked out in red t-shirts and caps has been fun – and even those of us who aren’t going to the game today are looking forward to seeing one sometime this season. Unless you have a peanut allergy sufferer in your household. Then probably you weren’t.
A few weeks ago we wrote about the ways the Cardinals make it cheaper to see them play. Today’s tip is how they make it safer, by making section 328 peanut-free for three games, including Saturday’s matchup with the New York Mets. No peanuts will be sold there, and any fans who inadvertently bring peanuts in will be asked to refrain from eating them. Extra staff will be added to enforce the ban.
Best of all, the tickets are cut to less than half price, from $35 or $30 to $14 per seat. To buy online, click here. To purchase via phone, call 314-345-9500 and ask about the peanut-free section 328.
The other peanut-free games are June 29 vs. the Diamondbacks and July 19 vs. the Phillies. The games are co-hosted by Gateway FEAST, an educational support group for families coping with allergies, eczema and asthma.
Many other sports teams and arts organizations offer peanut-free days too, including Circus Flora, which has a peanut-free preview night of its new show, Ingenioso, on June 3. As demand grows, expect more events to follow suit.
