Experience the original animated classic roaring from the big screen, as your SLSO performs Hans Zimmer’s Oscar-winning score live. The Lion King follows the powerful story of Simba as he journeys from a wide-eyed cub to his destined role as King of the Pride Lands. Featuring unforgettable music by Elton John, lyricist Tim Rice, and composer Hans Zimmer—plus African vocal and choir arrangements by South African producer and composer Lebo M—celebrate the magic of this joyful tale with the whole family.

The Saturday, November 15 matinee performance is inclusive of people with sensory sensitivities. Accommodations will be provided so that everyone may enjoy the experience of live orchestral music. A few things to know:

Hans Zimmer received an Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1995 for The Lion King.
The Lion King: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the best-selling soundtrack album to an animated film in the United States, with over 7 million copies sold.
“Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” composed by Elton John with lyrics by Tim Rice, won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1995. Lebo M and Hans Zimmer won the 1995 Grammy Award Best Instrumental Arrangement with Accompanying Vocals for “Circle of Life.”

Performances are Saturday, November 15 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, November 16 at 2 p.m.

Is it time to potty train your toddler? The St. Louis County Library is offering Potty Training 101 to parents of children ages 2-3. This free workshop for parent and child includes a potty-themed storytime, and parents & caregivers will receive information to get them started on the potty training process. Attendees will also receive a potty seat, step stool, training pants and a potty-themed board book.
