Even for a seasoned TV anchor and reporter who has experienced many "firsts" on the air and regularly greets early morning viewers on KMOV's Awake, Virginia Kerr admits that first-time motherhood makes her a bit nervous. "Just those first few weeks, not knowing what to do," she told our writer Amy Burger, who profiles Kerr in the summer issue of St. Louis Kids Magazine.
"I'm relying on my husband, because he's great with kids - he has three nieces - I know he'll really pick up the slack."
Kerr recently announced her pregnancy on the air, and she's ready to share the ups and down of motherhood with her viewers. She shared the story of her fairy-tale summer 2009 wedding with Burger, and like so many soon-to-be-moms, gushes about impending motherhood. "I'm looking forward to all the fun activities people do with their kids, but most of all, I'm looking forward to seeing my husband become a father because I know he'll be great at it."
Read the full interview with Kerr here. You can also see Kerr in person on July 24 when she hosts the St. Louis Kids Magazine Cover Kids 2010 Back to School Fashion Show at Saint Louis Galleria, and catch her on Awake with News 4 weekdays from 5 to 7 a.m.
