Dogs get to have their day at the ballpark at the upcoming Purina Pooches in the Ballpark. That's right, you can attend a St. Louis Cardinals game with your dog, sit in a designated "pooch" section, watch dog performances and more on Sunday, June 6. It's the sixth year for the event, which will include more than 150 dogs and their human caregivers.
Tickets for this event are sold out (for the special pooches section). But we have some to give away to one lucky reader, and they're worth $100 each! We are giving the tickets away on our Facebook page now at www.facebook.com/stlkids. All you have to do is go to the page, "like" our page if you haven't yet, and answer our trivia question. We'll choose a random winner out of those who answer the trivia question correctly on Tuesday, June 1.
Purina and Schnucks sponsor this event every year as a way for dog owners to spend more quality time with their pet. And your dog will get to do more than bark their approval of Cardinal runs. A Canine Cardinals Fan Parade and the spectacular Purina Incredble Dog Team Performance will take place before the game. At the dog team performance, incredibly talented, athletic canines will snatch flying discs out of the air while performing some amazing tricks. The Purina Incredible Dog Team travels across the country performing at sporting events and television shows, so this is a rare chance to see them perform in their hometown.
Other pre-game entertainment includes a First "Fetch," and all dogs attending the game will receive a "Pooch Pack" with lots of great gear to help them stay cool at the game. (Portable misters and a baby pool will also be available in the pooch section of the stadium.) The Animal Protective Association of Missouri will be on site with adoptable pets looking for permanent loving homes. The game starts at 7:05, but the pre-game entertainment begins at 5:45 p.m. Now that's nothing to sniff at.
It's the food truck event that started them all! Local food trucks gather for an evening of friends, fun, live music and plenty of great food at Sauce Food Truck Fridays. St. Louis' favorite mobile restaurants will be dishing out fresh fare and local brews in Tower Grove Park.
Kids can work on existing gym skills, learn new skills or just play around during Open Gym at Miss Kelly's Gym. Reservations are not necessary.
See the Zoo's California sea lions perform acrobatic and athletic feats, including Olympic-style dives on a high-diving platform, flipper walks, frisbee tosses and plenty of surprises. While on stage with the sea lions, the Zoo's trainers explain sea lion behavior and positive-reinforcement training, in addition to the need for conserving the sea lion's ocean habitat.
