The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis will host a unique Cards and Cubs-themed "human chess" match at Ballpark Village on Thursday, May 15. Following a "blitz game" with Grandmasters Ben Finegold and Robert Hess, a local Girl Scout troop and Boy Scout troop will serve as human chess pieces as the Busch Stadium II Infield is transformed into a giant chess board.
The game will include commentary by U.S. Championship commentators Maurice Ashley, Yasser Seiawan and Jennifer Shahade.
There will also be six interactive tables for the public to experience chess puzzles and free play positioned around the large human chessboard. Tony Rich, executive director of the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis, will emcee the event.
10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ballpark Village, Busch Stadium II Infield. Free and open to the public.
