Sensory-Friendly Evening at the Missouri History Museum

Visit the Missouri History Museum for a sensory-friendly evening for all attendees with autism and their companions, as well as individuals and families with other disabilities.

The lighting and noise levels in the Museum spaces will be adjusted to create a more inclusive atmosphere to minimize sensory overload and provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience. To avoid large crowds, this program will take place at a time when the Museum is closed to the general public.

There will also be storytelling, a Made in St. Louis smell/scent matching game, water and sand sensory play, and a music-making room. Guests can also relax while hanging out and petting therapy Duo Dogs.

Explore the 1904 World’s Fair and Collected exhibits on your own. Let your creativity sore by designing your own museum exhibit using artifacts you can touch. Visit resource tables hosted by our partner organizations.

Some snacks will be provided by the museum, but visitors can bring their own food to eat in the Grand Hall or outside.
