The Magic School Bus is Headed Home (to The Magic House)

The forecast at The Magic House calls for rain, snow, sleet, sunshine and every type of weather imaginable when Scholastic's The Magic School Bus "Kicks Up a Storm" exhibit rolls into town early next year.

Based on the bestselling Magic School Bus books and television series, the exhibit is highly interactive, giving kids the chance to experience extreme weather, go "on location" to report on weather and even make their own snowflakes.

Kids can hop aboard the bus, which will be magically transformed into a "flying" Weather Observatory to experience a whirlwind of weather related activities including: brewing up their own weather on a Weather Mixing Dashboard, measuring lightning distances and discovering what causes those brilliant flashes at a Thunderstorm Window, experiencing extreme weather through Weather Portholes and even creating their own unique snowflakes using ice crystals.

They'll also visit Ms. Frizzle's Classroom and check out a flurry of fun hands-on science projects such as Ralphie's Hot Air Balloon Race, Carlos' Air Blasters and Wanda's Water Cycle Wheel.

The exhibit also includes a field trip with Ms. Frizzle's class to the Walkerville Weather Center where museum visitors have the opportunity to go "on-location" as a reporter dressed for the weather, get the inside scoop on weather terms and vocabulary, see footage of tornados and other cool video clips and much more.

Scholastic's The Magic School Bus Kicks up a Storm was created by The Children's Museum of Houston in collaboration with Scholastic Media.

The exhibit will be at The Magic House (located at 516 S. Kirkwood Road in Kirkwood) February 9, 2013 through May 27, 2013 and is free with museum admission of $9.50 per person. For more information, visit www.magichouse.org
