Family Movie Night: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Catch a free showing of the blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Family Movie Night at the West County Family YMCA.

Three decades after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, a new threat arises. The first order attempts to rule the galaxy and only a ragtag group of heroes can stop them with the help of the resistance. Enjoy this free showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the West County Family YMCA in Chesterfield on Friday, April 8.

Admission is free, popcorn will be available for $1. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie begins at 7.

The Secret Garden

Delve into the life of young Mary Lennox in this classic tale performed by children ages 8-16 at the West County Family YMCA.

In the story, Mary Lennox, a difficult child who loses her parents, finds a new family. With the help of this family, friends and a secret garden, she learns the value of hard work, friendship and love.

Presented by Chesterfield Community Theater. Performances are Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 13 at 3 p.m.

Shenanigans! The Mystery Circus Show

Juggling Jeff stars in Shenanigans! The Mystery Circus Show coming to the West County Family YMCA on Saturday, March 28. Families can enjoy juggling, comedy, acrobatic feats and lots more at this high-energy show.

Performers include Juggling Jeff, Vanessa Waggoner and Jaime Zayas. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors, students and children.

When Moms Get Angry

I don’t know about you, but it makes me crazy that the foods offered to my children at their respective schools often seem to undo all of my efforts to make sure they’re eating healthy at home. On any given day, either one of my older children could choose for lunch an order of French fries and a packaged brownie that has so many preservatives in it that I could set it aside and serve it to my future great-grandchildren.
