17 'Egg-Citing' Egg Hunts and Easter Events for St. Louis Families

Easter falls on Sunday, March 27 this year, which means that everyone’s favorite rabbit will be hopping into town a little earlier than usual. Grab your baskets and get ready to celebrate with egg hunts, jelly beans and photos with the Easter Bunny himself at one of these “egg-citing” St. Louis Easter events and egg hunts.

1. Springtime Village at Purina Farms

Celebrate all things spring at Purina Farms when Springtime Village opens March 16-April 3. From a petting area with bunnies, piglets and chicks to photos with Peter Cottontail, there’s something for everyone. Plus, it’s free! If it’s an egg hunt you’re after, visit on Saturday, March 26 for the Egg-citing Egg Hunts at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Egg hunts are free for kids 2 and under, $10 for children 3-12.

2. Hunt for a Cure in Queeny Park

Enjoy your favorite Easter activities and hunt for a cure for diseases like leukemia and lymphoma at the 6th annual Hunt for a Cure in Queeny Park on Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Over 70,000 eggs will be hidden, the LLS Bunny will arrive via helicopter, and there will be face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, informational booths and even appearances from well-loved nursery rhyme characters.

Admission is $10/family; family passes can be purchased online.

3. Bunny Hop at Shaw Park

The annual Bunny Hop at Shaw Park in Clayton will take place on Saturday, March 19 this year. The event, which is for kids ages 1-8, features a petting zoo, crafts, plenty of eggs to gather, and of course, photos with Mr. Bunny. The egg hunt begins at 10:30 a.m. sharp, but you’ll want to arrive by 10 a.m.

4. Get Hopping Easter Egg Hunt in Des Peres Park

Kids ages 3-6 can meet the Easter Bunny, hunt for eggs and pose for photos at the Get Hopping Easter Egg Hunt in Des Peres Park on Saturday, March 26. Bring your own baskets for this free community event, which takes place at 10 a.m., rain or shine.

5. Breakfast with the Bunny at the Saint Louis Zoo

There are three Saturday morning dates for Breakfast with the Bunny at the Saint Louis Zoo this year, each with three time slots available (but they’re already selling out, so act fast if you’re interested). Breakfast with the Bunny features a full breakfast buffet, costumed characters and photos with the Bunny, as well as a gift for kids and free parking for adults.

6. Hop to the Meadows Easter Event and Egg Hunt

Children ages 10 and under can participate in a free community egg hunt at The Meadows Shopping Center in Lake St. Louis on Saturday, March 19. Hop to the Meadows – which takes place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – features a wide variety of family-friendly fun, including bounce houses, pony rides, a balloon artist and lots of games and activities. The highlight of the day is the always popular egg hunts.

7. Youth Activity Park Easter Egg Hunt (Including an Egg Hunt for Special Needs Children)

At the Youth Activity Park in Dardenne Prairie on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., kids 12 and under can hunt for more than 4,00 candy-filled eggs, hidden throughout the park’s 25-acre facility. The Youth Activity Park Easter Egg Hunt features a visit from both the Easter Bunny and Ronald McDonald, as well as face painting, games, activities and more.

From 1 to 3 p.m., there will also be a brand new, one-of-a-kind Egg Hunt for Special Needs Children. This hunt will be divided into three categories: one for children with sensory impairments, one for children with mobility impairments and one with specially designed beeping eggs for children with visual impairments.

8. Eggstravaganza at MOBOT

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, families can engage with the wonders of spring at the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Eggstravaganza. Be sure to bring your baskets, because egg hunts will take place every 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and noon, and there will be snacks, spring blooms, live rabbits, photos with Hopsy (the Garden’s beloved rabbit character) and plenty of opportunities for outdoor play.

9. Breakfast with the Bunny and Egg Hunt at the West County Family YMCA

At the West County YMCA’s Breakfast with the Bunny and Egg Hunt at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, kids can visit with the Easter Bunny while the entire family enjoys a hot breakfast. Bring your own baskets for the egg hunt, and get ready for crafts, face painting and field games too. Cost is $5/person; free for children under 2.

10. Equine-Assisted Therapy Easter Egg Hunt

Equine Assisted Therapy’s Annual Egg Hunt takes place on Saturday, March 19 at Longview Farm Park in Town and Country. Registration opens at 11 a.m., with the hunt beginning promptly at noon. Kids ages 2-12 can enjoy a unique egg hunting experience where they gather eggs, and then get to “sell” them in order to buy games, toys, books and more from a General Store.

Pre-registration is not required. Cost is $10/hunter, with 100% of the money going to Equine-assisted Therapy.  

11. Gateway Grizzlies Egg Hunt

The Gateway Grizzlies will host their 14th annual free Easter Egg Hunt for families throughout the Metro East and Southwestern Illinois at GCS Ballpark on Saturday, March 26. Concessions will be open, and you can expect to see the Easter Bunny, Izzy the Grizzlie, Lizzy the Polar Bear and more. Gates open at 9 a.m., and egg hunting – which is divided into age groups – begins at 9:30 a.m. This also marks the first day you can pick up season tickets and purchase single game tickets for the 2016 season.

12. Underwater Egg Hunt

Kids ages 8-15 can dive into this underwater egg hunt and win some awesome prizes and candy if they find the lucky eggs. After the hunt, there will be plenty of time for swimming and listen to favorite tunes poolside. Saturday, March 26 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at The Point in Ballwin. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $12-$14 depending on membership and residency.

13. WILD Family Fun Days GPS Egg Hunt

This is no ordinary Easter egg hunt! At the WILD Family Fun Days GPS Egg Hunt in Babler Memorial State Park on Sunday, March 20, kids and adults can put their GPS skills to the test. Eggs will be hidden on trails, in fields, under pavilions and other places around the park, and participants will use a GPS device (either bring your own and you’ll be given the coordinates or sign up for one that’s pre-loaded with egg locations) to track them down. Cost is $15 per adult/child pair and $3 per additional family member.

14. Breakfast with the Easter Bunny in St. Charles

On Saturday, March 19, the Easter Bunny stops at Wapelhorst Park in St. Charles for the day. Enjoy a hot breakfast in the pavilion near the playground, do holiday crafts, go on an egg hunt and get photos taken with the Easter Bunny himself.

Cost is $10/person, and you can register online.

15. Breakfast with the Bunny and Easter Egg-citement at Eckert’s

Families can always find fun at Eckert’s, and the Easter season is no exception. Enjoy a hearty family-style meal at the Belleville Country Restaurant at Breakfast with the Bunny, and stay for egg hunts, face painting, baby chicks and more at Easter Egg-citement. Easter events at Eckert’s kick off on Saturday, March 12 and run on Saturdays and Sundays through March 26. Advance registration is not required.

16. Easter Egg Hunt at Big Joel’s Safari

The 2nd annual Easter Egg Hunt at Big Joel’s Safari will take place on Saturday, March 26, which also happens to be opening day for the season. The park will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with egg hunts taking place at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for kids 0-5 and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for kids 6-10. Egg hunts are free with paid admission, but be sure to arrive well in advance of the scheduled start time.

17. The Annual Egg Roll at The Magic House

The Easter Egg Roll at the White House has been an annual tradition since 1898, and here in St. Louis we have our own version – The Annual Egg Roll at The Magic House! On Monday, March 27, kids ages 12 and under are invited to participate in an “egg-citing” race, where they will use large spoon to roll eggs across the front lawn of The Magic House.  Egg decorating, story time and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny are also part of this special full-day event. Activities are included with regular admission.
