Turn the clock back to 1872 during this free living history event for all ages that examines the 1872 presidential election, with hands-on activities, an evening torch-light parade, historic children's games and more.
This living history event: Grant or Greeley - Which? The Election of 1872. Costumed interpreters will give impassioned speeches and introduce visitors to the candidates and issues of the election. Visitors will have the opportunity to talk to the candidates and their campaigners, participate in hands-on activities, watch an evening torch-light parade, see a historic photography demonstration, listen to a band playing music from the 1870s, create their own campaign ribbons, play historic children's games and more. Visitors will also be encouraged to cast their vote for the presidential candidate of their choice.
Hours are Friday, Sept. 9: 6:30 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10: 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 11 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
